My work has always had a strongly illustrative leaning, designs develop from drawings; both observational and imagined, or through a desire to express concepts and ideas around connectedness, relationships and our place in the world. There are elements of narrative captured in silver and transformed into miniature scenes telling out across the surface of a brooch or hanging as a pendant…My hope is that people recognise part of their own story hidden within my jewellery.
I work with silver and copper using gold for detailing. The metal is pierced out, and then I apply textures or patterns to the surface using a rolling mill and templates. These components are then layered together and soldered. The pieces are finished with a mixture of matt oxidised and polished surfaces to add depth and tone.
